The Athletics and Recreation Department at Wilfrid Laurier University is committed to providing a safe and fun camp experience for our campers. The safety of our campers, their families and our staff are our priority. We strive to make each camper feel welcome and included while finding a sense of community and a place to feel at home.
Golden Hawk Leader-In-Training Camp (12-15 years) The Leader-In-Training (LIT) program offers individuals a unique experience to develop leadership and teamwork skills through fun, interactive activities. In the first week, campers will be introduced to Emergency First Aid and CPR training, ensuring participants are equipped with valuable, practical skills. The LIT program is designed to introduce the fundamentals of leadership and support the building of skills that will contribute to success in everyday life as well as future aspirations and goals. To achieve this, LITs will create and run games for all age groups, allowing them to build confidence and leadership skills. (please see below for more information on volunteering)
Camp includes: Emergency first aid certification, LIT workbook, T-shirt, Midas Photo, Friday Lunch & More!
Age of Camp Participants/Grouping: LIT Camp is designed for youth 12-15 years of age. All campers reaching the minimum age in this year are welcome to join. Our staff to camper is ratio is 1:12 for this program.
Staff: Enthusiastic Laurier students, certified in First aid and CPR, and High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development)
Facilities: The Laurier Athletic Complex located at 75 University Ave West, Waterloo. (corner of King Street and University Ave)
The following sessions are offered: July & August 2025
Week 1 – July 2-4, 2025 *3-day week – no first aid offered*
Week 2 –July 7-11, 2025
Week 3 - July 14-18, 2025
Week 4 –July 21-25, 2025
Week 5 –July 28-Aug 1, 2025
Week 6 –August 5-8, 2025 *4-day week*
Week 7 –August 11-15, 2025
Week 8 –August 18-22, 2025
Camp hours of operation are from: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $285.00 per child
Short Weeks: July 2-4 $171.00, and Aug 5-8 $228.00 per child
*Extended Care available for an additional cost
Leader-In-Training Volunteer Program: Once our Golden Hawk Leaders have completed a week of the LIT program, they are eligible to come back to volunteer at our multi-sport and activity camps. Refund Policy and Notes
In the event that you cancel your child’s camp session, a minimum of 10 days’ notice prior to the start date of the camp is required for a refund, less a $50 administrative fee. Should you fail to give 10 days’ notice, you will be required to pay the full camp fee.
Liability Waiver to be read and agreed to during registration:
I give my permission for my son/daughter to participate in the Golden Hawk Multi-Sport Camp. We will not hold liable the camp directors, counselors, staff, Wilfrid Laurier University or their staff for any personal theft, illness, or injury sustained while attending. As per the Personal Health Information Protection Act, filling out an OHIP number on a camp application form is voluntary. Should a parent or guardian choose not to supply this information, they should be reachable in the event of an emergency.
